Jenny Slate leaves ‘Big Mouth” : it was doubling Missy, a character métis

Jenny Slate does double more the character of Missy in Big Mouth. Actress white performed actually this girl is a métis in the fiction of Netflix, focused on the onset of puberty. “At the beginning of the series, I convinced myself that it was allowed for me to play Missy, because her mother is jewish and white, like me”, she wrote on Instagram on Wednesday 24 June 2020.

“But Missy is also black. And the characters black in the animated series should also be interpreted by black people“, she adds. Jenny Slate, american actress 38 years of age, a native of Massachusetts, admitted that, in interpreting Missy, she “carried out the removal of black people” in the audiovisual environment and used in spite of its “privileged white”.

The creators of Big Mouth, Nick Kroll, Andrew Goldberg, Mark Levin and Jennifer Flackett (which are also the voice actors of the characters), have all lent their support to Jenny Slate. “We sincerely apologize and regret that our original decision to hire a voice actress, white for a character biracial. We look forward to being able to explore the story of Missy with even more authenticity in the years to come,” they wrote.

As informs Variety, which cites a source close to the team of the series, production would have already completed the-season 4 (scheduled for this fall), which means that Missy will not be doubled by a new actress from season 5.

It was announced last year that Netflix had renewed Big Mouth for three seasons more, a total of six seasons.
