Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii
“Pink Floyd Live At Pompeii” is a movie-documentary-concert directed by Adrian Maben, recorded in 1972 and released in the version for cinemas in 1974. Shows the band formed by David Gilmour, Roger Water, richard Wright and Nick Mason performing without an audience in a historic performance in the ancient roman amphitheater in Pompeii. The one available is the edited version of the 2016 as it appears in the box set “The Early Years 1965 to 1972”. The songs were all recorded live (some in Pompeii, the other at Paris), and were some scenes between the vapours of the Solfatara of Pozzuoli. The project was born from an idea by director Adrian Maben, who had visited the area during a holiday with a girlfriend and obtained from the local Superintendent for permission to do the filming, thanks to the efforts of professor Ugo Carputi of the University of Naples. In 2019, David Gilmour is back to Pompeii for a concert in 45 years of room.
